  3. Hardware Lessons for this Module Analogue Sound Cable Screws Mother Board Panel Tower Panel Joystick Port Printer port Serial Port Keyboard port Mouse Port USB Port LAN port

  4. Hardware Power supply

  5. Hardware Powersupply Supplies Power to the computer measured in Watts 250 – 350 watts

  6. Hardware Powersupply Has a Power adjusting Switch at the back For 110 and 220 settings.

  7. Hardware Device Drive

  8. Hardware Device Drives They are drives that are placed in the computer tower common drives are CD-ROM / DVD-ROM, Hard Drive, Disk Drive

  9. Hardware CD-ROM / DVD ROM / Combo Drive

  10. Hardware CD-ROM / DVD ROM / Combo Drive CD-ROM drive – allows you to read standard vcds and music cds

  11. Hardware CD-ROM / DVD ROM / Combo Drive DVD-ROM – allows you to read standard vcds, dvdsand music cds

  12. Hardware CD-ROM / DVD ROM / Combo Drive Combo Drives are often called Burner Drives because they have a burning capability to copy data to a blank CD-R / CD-RW / DVD-R / DVD-RW

  13. Hardware Hard Disk ATA / SATA

  14. Hardware Hard Disk ATA / SATA Hard Disks allows users to store data on a magnetic disk. Size is measured in bytes*, Kilobytes*, Megabytes*, Gigabytes, Terabytes. * - obsolete drives used in the 70’s – 90’s

  15. Hardware Hard Disk ATA / SATA Hard Disks allows users to store data on a magnetic disk. Size is measured in bytes*, Kilobytes*, Megabytes*, Gigabytes, Terabytes. * - obsolete drives used in the 70’s – 90’s

  16. Hardware Master / Slave / Jumper Settings

  17. Hardware Master / Slave / Jumper Settings Jumper Settings on Drives allow you to define whether the drive will function as Master / Slave Drive.

  18. Hardware Master / Slave / Jumper Settings Master Drive – priority drive. In an IDE cable only 1 drive can become the master. The other should be set as slave

  19. Hardware Master / Slave / Jumper Settings Slave Drive – secondary drive. All drives attached to an ide cable must be set at slave if there is one drive that has been set to master.

  20. Hardware Mother Board

  21. Hardware Motherboard The motherboard is the main part of a computer system here is where the CPU, Memory, PCI and AGP, IDE Cables are attached. It is the main highway of the computer system where data travels from one component to another

  22. Hardware Motherboard The motherboard is the main part of a computer system here is where the CPU, Memory, PCI and AGP, IDE Cables are attached. It is the main highway of the computer system where data travels from one component to another

  23. Hardware PCI Slots

  24. Hardware PCI Slots The PCI or the Peripheral Component Interconnect is where sister boards are attached to the mother board. They can be audio cards, lan cards, usb card ports, professional editing cards etc…. Standard pci slots in a mother board ranges from 4-5 pci slots.

  25. Hardware PCI Slots The PCI or the Peripheral Component Interconnect is where sister boards are attached to the mother board. They can be audio cards, lan cards, usb card ports, professional editing cards etc…. Standard pci slots in a mother board ranges from 4-5 pci slots.

  26. Hardware AGP Slot

  27. Hardware AGP Slot The AGP – Accelerated Graphics Port Slot is a slot for professional Video cards whether used for the graphic industry or gamming Industry.

  28. Hardware AGP Slot ATI and NVIDIA are the leading video card manufacturers in the industry.

  29. Hardware AGP Slot ATI and NVIDIA are the leading video card manufacturers in the industry.

  30. Hardware Built in Audio and Video Cards

  31. Hardware Bulit in Audio and Video Cards Almost all mother boards have a built in audio card. Most motherboards have a built in video card. Having a built in video card gets memory from your Physical Memory or RAM memory. Which makes your computer run slowly 512mb memory > 470mb memory situation

  32. Hardware Memory Slot / Memory

  33. Hardware Memory Slot / Memory Motherboards have a minimum of 2 memory slots for RAM Memory. Current Standard Settings for computers for ram is 2GB of memory.

  34. Hardware Memory Slot / Memory RAM Memory contains a group of memory chips which the computer uses to temporary store data once the computer is turned off Data is erased from this memory card. Thus Memory is often refered to as Temporary Data Storage.

  35. Hardware IDE Cables / SATA Cable

  36. Hardware IDE / PATA / SATA Cables IDE cables – Integrated Drive Electronic cables link drives to the motherboard to transfer data.

  37. Hardware IDE / PATA / SATA Cables PATA – Parallel Advanced technology Attachment is faster than IDE Cables/ has a blue colored connector

  38. Hardware IDE / PATA / SATA Cables SATA– Serial Advanced technology Attachment is faster than PATA and is smaller and the standard in today’s computers namely for hard drives.

  39. Hardware CPU Dock, CPU, Heat Sink. Cooling Fan

  40. Hardware CPU Dock, CPU, Heat Sink, Cooling Fan CPU Dock – The CPU dock is where the CPU is attached.

  41. Hardware CPU Dock, CPU, Heat Sink, Cooling Fan CPU – The Central Processing Unit is the brain of the computer the contacts are gold plated.

  42. Hardware CPU Dock, CPU, Heat Sink, Cooling Fan Heat Sink – The Heat sink is placed on top of the CPU. The Heat sink is made of pure aluminum which absorbs heat

  43. Hardware CPU Dock, CPU, Heat Sink, Cooling Fan Cooling Fan – The cooling fan is attached at the top of the heat sink to blow cool air in the heat sink

  44. Hardware Control Panel

  45. Hardware Control Panel The motherboard control panel is where the cables for the power, reset and USB slots for the front of the tower is located.

  46. Hardware Analog Sound Cable

  47. Hardware Analog Sound Cable The analog sound cable is directly connected from the CD-ROM to the soundcard. This is what jeepney drivers connect to their amplifiers in their jeeps

  48. Hardware Screws

  49. Hardware Screws They hold the devices or the sister boards to the chassis of the computer

  50. Hardware Motherboard Panel
