  2. Introduction • I chose 24 because when there is a lucky draw, 24 is the number that I usually get and it has been my lucky number from 3rd grade. • This number is connected to this world because in 24 A.D and 24 B.C. the kings of some countries passed away or were killed.

  3. 24 the number • 24 has 8 factors: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, and 24. • 24 has 7 proper factors: 1,2,3,4,6,8 and12 • 24 is an abundant number • 24 is a fourth multiple of the Babylonian’s number, 6. • 24is an even number that has 4 factor pairs: 4x6, 3x8, 2x12, 1x24. • The prime factorization of 24 is, 2x2x2x2x3, or 2 to the power of 4 multiplied by 3. • My number is a bad first move on the factor game because you are giving the opponent 36 points. In the product game, it isn’t a good first move, because the result is that the marker would be on the side, not the middle. It would be harder to get four in a row from the side than the center.

  4. 24’s meanings • In China, 2 means easy and 4 means die, so it “means easy to die”.

  5. 24 A.D. and B.C. • In 24 B.C. imperator Caesar Augustus becomes Roman Consul for the tenth time. His partner is Gaius Norbanus Flaccus. • In 24 B.C. Octavian builds the city of Nicopolis in Egypt to commemorate his final victory over Antony. • In 24 A.D. the rebellion in Sicilia defeats King Cassander. His nephew, who reigns as King Dionysius I, succeeds him. • Also in 24 A.D. Charmides becomes Archon of Athens. (Archon: One of the nine chief civil officers) • Lastly in 24 A.D. Namhae, king of Silla dies.

The things that have 24 volumes, stars, etc. • The Chemical Element Chromium has an atomic number of 24. • There are 24 Runes in the Elder Futhark, and traditionally, the 24 letters are divided into three groups of eight letters called ættir. (The Norse alphabets) • The Chaldeans distinguished, apart from the zodiacal circle, 24 stars including 12 southern and 12 boreal, and they called them the "Judges of the universe". • There are 24 books in the Tanak. (Hebrew Bible or Scriptures ) • Chopin composed 24 preludes.

Glossary (I) • Abundant number: an abundant number is a number who’s proper factors (factors of a number, excluding the number itself) add up bigger than the number itself • Factor: factors are numbers that are multiplied together to make the number. Eg. 4 x 6 = 24, 4 and 6 are factors of 24 • Multiple: a multiple is the number itself and it multiplied by 2,3,4,5,6,… . So you cannot find all of the multiples. Eg. 4’s multiple: 4,8,12,16,20,24,28,32,…

  11. Glossary (II) • Even numbers’: even numbers are number which can be divided by two and the last digit has to be even number. Also zero is an even number. Eg. 160= An even number, because 160. 0 is an even number, so this number is even. • Prime factorization: Prime factorization, is when you divide a number into prime. Eg. 24= 2x2x2x3
