  1. SPRING HAND TIED BOUQUET A hand-tied bouquet is quite simply the gathering of different flowers and greenery into a spiraling form, tied at the binding point and made ready to put in a vase or dish. It can be ribbon tied in a plastic bag with water for the perfect gift! Materials Plastic Bag – Sm, Med or Lg, depending on the size of your bouquet Raffia or Garden Twine Ribbon Shallow Flat Bottom Bowl or Dish Clippers, Knife and Scissors Flowers for Today’s Bouquet 2 Stems of Rice Flowers 4 Tulips 10 Roses 2- 3 Stems Boronia 2 Stems KochiaScoparia 1 Stem Viburnum 4 Stems Agapanthus 2 Stems Stock Before you start, make sure you have your twine cut to approximately 18” and have clippers at the ready. Begin by sorting your flowers into individual piles of 3-5 stems of different blossoms, so that you can clearly see the colors and sizes of each for your bouquet. (Straight and strong stems are recommended) Start with the focal flower for the center of your bouquet. It should be one of the larger ones. Add filler or greenery around this first flower. Hold the bunch at the binding point with your left hand (if you are right handed), vice versa is you are left handed. Pick another type of flower and lay it at an a 90° angle (flower head pointing away from you, stem pointing toward you), then turn the bunch. Lay the next flower, again at a 90° angle and repeat the turn in the same direction. As you add flowers and turn the bouquet, view it from above to adjust color and uniformity of the “dome”. Also check the stems at the bottom to ensure the spiral. After you have added all of your flowers and greenery hold the bunch at the top and tie it tightly with the twine. Trim the ends of the stems straight across, so that they will stand upright and they will all get to the water in the bag or the vase. (Re-split any woody stems) Place your bouquet inside the bag and secure with a ribbon. Place in a dish or plate or move to a vase to add support to the bag with water.
