But of all the components of these assessments, pupil evaluation is one that is often neglected but very important. In this article, we are going to try to understand why pupil evaluation is so important and how it can be related to clinical emergency department decision-making.

  3. What is a Pupil Evaluation? Other than being one of the routine examinations, student assessment provides very crucial information regarding the neurological status of a patient. Health professionals use pupillary examination to examine the performance of the brain and the nervous system. Of interest are the size of the pupils, their response, and their symmetry. Most of these features could suggest several conditions such as head injury resulting from a head trauma or drug overdose.
