The Registry: Responsible for administration of Crown Mineral and Onshore Petroleum Rights • Receives applications for mineral and petroleum rights and issues and registers licences or leases • Maintains maps of current rights disposition • Monitors exploration activities in Nova Scotia • Provides information on past exploration and mining activities

  3. The Mineral and Petroleum Registry Current Status: • Over 880,000 Acres of land under Licence for mineral exploration • Over 2 million acres under licence for onshore petroleum exploration

  4. The Mineral and Petroleum Registry • Exploration work must be done each year to maintain licence and must be submitted and approved before the licence is renewed • In the last 8 years this work ranged between $3,743,728 and $15,035,159 per year
