SSO High-level overview • Standard JEE authentication framework in all applications replaces legacy SSO • WebSphere single sign-on • Uses WebSphere login screen framework (built-in JAAS) in VSM • All login related UI now provided in VSM (forgot password, post-login workflow, etc.) • User management provided in VSM • Data Synch Framework for user replication • Logout link provided by VSM
Benefits of WebSphereSingle Sign-on • Users can login to any application in the suite and jump to another application without being prompted for login • Handles session expiration by automatically logging off the user after a configurable timeout (the LTPA cookie expiration time) • Will work across all products as long as they are using a common DNS domain for the front-end web-server • Can be configured to use LDAP or ActiveDirectory for login in place of internal VSM user store • Can be configured to use “proxy based” SSO solutions such as SiteMinder and Tivoli Access Manager in place of built-in login • Provides support for SAML Post Binding Profile for integration with customer provided IdP
