  1. Welcome to English Studies ND Governor’s School, Summer 2011

  2. During the Next 6 Weeks… • You’ll get a crash course in the disciplines that make up “English Studies.” • You’ll complete an Independent Project in a discipline and on a specific topic of your own choosing. • You’ll create your own online magazines, working on all phases of magazine creation. • You’ll complete a Portfolio which will “show off” your work from throughout the 6 weeks and reflect on the experience and what you learned.

  3. And that’s not all… • You’ll read some of your work at the closing ceremony for other Gov School students, parents, friends, and staff. • You’ll publish some of your work in in the National Gallery of Writing. • You won’t have to be embarrassed anymore for enjoying books, being a good writer, and in general going cuckoo for language. • You’ll decide that you want to spend the rest of your of life studying one of the fabulous disciplines in English Studies. Well, maybe 

  4. We will most often meet… HERE, in EML 370. Some days we may move to a cluster. Some days we may work in the Union coffee shop.

  6. If you’re ever lost, find a computer. Our online homepage will tell you: • How to contact any of the teachers. • Where you will most likely need to be at any given hour. • What you’ll most likely be doing/ studying in any given hour.

  7. Our Wiki Steven will tell you about this shortly! It’s where you’ll do some journaling, post your work, comment on the work of others, read assignments, chat with each other.
