Purpose and Guidance of Plan To identify, analyze and directly address anticipated impacts and results from Shale Oil and Gas Development in Guernsey County Will build upon Guernsey County’s Comprehensive Strategic Plan to include Shale Development Partners include: Guernsey County Planning Commission (Steering Committee) Workgroups/Committees (Community Leaders & Residents) OSU Extension Team (provide guidance and management)
Sustainable Planning Approach Inclusionary: Engaging broad range of community interests in guidance and development Long-term: Think out generations – 20 years Balanced and Linked: Social, economic and environmental sectors of community are addressed and goals are linked and balanced

Community Engagement Engage community residents in planning by: Creation of broadly representative Workgroups Reach out to groups, organizations, communities throughout Guernsey County for public input Identify common issues, treasured assets and shared vision for long range future of Guernsey County Seek input from social, economic and environmental interests/values in community
Proposed Planning Timetable Month One: Launch planning initiative – February 7, 2014 Month One: Establish meeting dates for entire planning group (all Workgroups) Four 2-3 hour General Sessions – Economic Impacts, Social Impacts, Environmental Impacts, Share Results Month One – Six: Develop and implement Community Engagement Plan Month One – Seven: Workgroups will meet on their own to draft Sector Plans Month Seven – Eight: Convene Land Use/Growth Management Month Eight: Share Plan with GCPC/Steering Committee and Community
