During three semesters of the program you are preparing yourself for undergraduate studies alongside with other international students by experiencing an international lear- ning community through developing • critical thinking, • team work, • effective communication skills and • networking. Graduating from the Freshman Year program enables you to per- form in an academic setting where studies are in German, far away from your family and friends. Program Details 02 PROGRAM DETAILS The Program is divided into three semesters. And apart from German as a foreign language, the subjects taught during the three semester course cover a wide range of subjects for qualifying for university entry. specialized vocabulary and some further general subjects. Moreover, you will take part in offered work- shops that will prepare you for extra curricular presentations and holding projects at your future university. First semester will be strongly fo- cused on German language learning and cross-cultural competences. In the beginning of the second semester students will have to chose between 3 study tracks: Engineering, Econo- mics & Business or Social Sciences. Once completing the program stu- dents will have a smooth transi- tion to the university and will be able to adapt to the environment of a German university very well. Additionally there are plenty of ex- cursions which are an integral part of the program. These excursions allow students to visit architectural, techni- cal and industrial sights as well as the potential universities in Germany for getting an idea about their preferred universities and respective courses. Second and third semester are focu- sed on introducing you to you choo- sen spezialization. Depending on your choice, you will be learning the basics of Engineering, Economics & Business or Social Sciences; required
Program Start Dates 03 PROGRAM START DATES The international undergraduate stu- dy preparation program requires three semesters of full time study in- cluding German language fluency. Each semester covers four months. If you already hold German language competency your study schedule will be adjusted to your language skills. The teaching level of German will depend on your starting level and individual progress. The program beginning on March 5, 2018 will be completed by June 2019 for the univer- sity intake in autumn 2019. Program Fees 04 PROGRAM FEES Fees include • Tuition, • city guide Berlin, • pick-up service from Airport, • study counselling, • extra academic support if necessary, • textbooks and study materials, • local citizen registration, • support with residence permit for the period of the program, • mandatory health insurance, • support with renting accommodation, • and some miscellaneous expenses. If you join the program in spring 2018 and your respected studies include one term in 2019, the pricing will be ac- cording to terms of 2018. Fees will be charged in total as lump sum payment. Fee Semester 1: 4,590.00 € Fee Semester 2: 4,200.00 € Fee Semester 3: 5,900.00 € Total: 14,690.00 € Please note that accommodation/ housing, transportation and insurance cost are an elementary part of your blo- cked account each student has to have available apart from above mentioned fee when she/ he applies for the student visa to Germany. For the year 2017 / 2018 the amount required by the Immigration Authorities of Germany for a blocked account is 8,640.00 (720.00 EUR/ month) Each semester fee includes partici- pation in semester assessments, final examination and language certificate. Joining the program before the be- ginning of the second semester de- mands the participation in a German language placement test requiring at least level B1 of German. 05 AFTER BERLIN FRESHMAN YEAR After graduating successfully from BFY students can choose and study free of cost (only private universities charge tuition fees monthly or by semester) from a wide variety of Engineering, Management, Business, Media and Social Science related programs in one of our partner universities or in ex- ternal university but only after pas- sing the Feststellungspruefung which is an external university assessment exam. After completing Bachelor stu- dies a student can enrol in a Master’s program or directly apply for job.
