Are you able to use digital tools to manage activities in the development of your technology research project? Are you able to think critically in the decisions of who, what, where, and when to include within your technology research project?

  4. Semester #2 - Week #8Essential Questions (cont.) Are you able to create original technology project tasks as a means of demonstrating higher order metacognitive thinking? Do you understand the Statement of Inquiry and 3 Inquiry Questions for this Technology Research Project Unit and how each section is to be answered in the Expository Research Paper? Are you able to use the internet and MS Word to gather the knowledge and background necessary with which to complete your Technology Research Project third task, an Expository Research Paper?

  5. Semester #2 - Week #8Essential Questions (cont.) Are able to articulate an understanding of the IB Key Concept of “relationships” and how it relates to technology and our Technology Research Projects? Are you able to engage in critical thinking into the higher levels of Bloom's Taxonomy in relationship to technology and including the pros and cons for many different technologies?

  6. Technology Research ProjectStatement of Inquiry Throughout history, mankind has created and developed many different technologies with which to control, adapt to, and modify the surrounding environment and sustain civilizations from the world around him. From Wikipedia… Technology (from Greekτέχνη, techne, "art, skill, cunning of hand"; and -λογία, -logia[1]) is the collection of tools, including machinery, modifications, arrangements and procedures used by humans. Engineering is the discipline that seeks to study and design new technologies. Technologies significantly affect human as well as other animal species' ability to control and adapt to their natural environments. The term can either be applied generally or to specific areas: examples include construction technology, medical technology and information technology.

  7. Technology Research Project3 Inquiry Questions 1.) From where did the technology that you have chosen originate, how did it develop in the past, why did it develop, where is it now in present time, and what is its future? 2.) There are helpful benefits and contributions made by each of these technologies to humanity, society, civilization, and the environment. In the case of your selected technology for this project, what are the benefits?

  8. Technology Research Projects3 Inquiry Questions (continued) 3.) There are also ways in which each of these technologies can harm, detract from, and/or possibly even destroy in different ways humanity, society, civilization, and the environment. In the case of your selected technology for this project, what are they?

  9. Do Now (First class this week): 1.) Use the internet to identify definitions, synonyms, antonyms, and then write an original sentence for the technology-related vocabulary concept of “relationship”.

  10. Today’s Learning Goal(First class this week): • Students will engage in critical thinking as demonstrated by their ability to articulate their understanding of the IB Key Concept of “relationships” and how it applies to technology and our Technology Research Projects.

  11. Objectives (First class this week) S.W.B.A.T.: 1.) Complete definitions, synonyms, antonyms, and an original sentence for the technology-related vocabulary concept of “relationship”. 2.) Engage in critical thinking into the higher levels of Bloom's Taxonomy of Metacognitive Thinking through participation in the class inquiry on the concept of “relationship” and how it applies to technology and our Technology Research Projects. 3.) Analyze and articulate an understanding of the concept of “relationship” and how it applies to technology and our Technology Research Projects through writing and an illustration.

In your opinion, what is the relationship today between humanity and all of the thousands of technologies that exist? • What are some of the positive benefits of our relationship with technology today? • What are some of the harmful and dangerous aspects of the relationship that we have today with technology?

  14. Do Now (Second class this week): 1.) Download your saved Concept Bubble Map MS PowerPoint file from Edmodo. 2.) Download the Research Paper format MS Word file from Edmodo or your saved Research Paper MS Word document in progress.
