  2. What happens after a tooth extraction? After a tooth extraction, your mouth will need time to heal. During this time, it is important to take care of your mouth and follow your dentist's instructions. Here are some things you can expect after a tooth extraction: -Bleeding: There will be some bleeding after the procedure. This is normal and will help clean out the area where the tooth was extracted. Be sure to bite on gauze if your dentist provides it, and replace it as needed. -Swelling: You may notice some swelling around the extraction site. This is also normal and should go down within a few days. Apply ice to the area for 20 minutes at a time to help reduce swelling. -Pain: You may experience some pain after the procedure. Your dentist can prescribe medication to help with this. Over-the-counter pain relievers can also be effective. -Oral Hygiene: It is important to keep your mouth clean after an extraction. Gently brush your teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Avoid touching the extraction site with your tongue or finger. Rinse your mouth with salt water several times a day to help keep the area clean.

  3. Tooth extraction aftercare After having a tooth extracted, it is important to take care of the area to ensure proper healing. Here are some tips for aftercare: -Gently rinse your mouth with warm salt water starting the day after the procedure. -Avoid using a straw, smoking, or drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours. -Eat soft foods and avoid crunchy or chewy foods for a few days. -Apply ice to the outside of your mouth for 20 minutes at a time to reduce swelling. -Take pain medication as prescribed by your dentist. -Do not touch or poke at the extraction site. -Brush and floss your teeth as usual, but be careful around the extraction site. If you have any questions or concerns about your tooth extraction, be sure to contact your dentist right away!
