Nepal celebrates New Year festival

Bisket, the nine-day festival taking place over the Nepalese New Year, began Apr. 9. During the festival images of the god Bhairava and his female counterpart Bhadrakali are enshrined in two large chariots and pulled to an open square after which blessings for the year are bestowed.
