introducing zondle • zondle is a free web and mobile platform that empowers teachers to engage students and enhance learning. • zondle empowers teachers: enabling them to create and share educational content to meet the specific learning needs of individual students. • zondle engages students: motivating them and giving them ownership of their learning, through their choice of web and mobile games • zondle enhances learning: preparationfor high-stakes tests-without any marking!!
zondle empowers teachers • Teachers can (for example): • Create questions (any language, any subject, any level) or mash together any of the 1.4 million questions created by other users, to meet individual or group needs • teach using the whole-class teaching game • set questions for students to play in games (Formative) or as Summative assessment with NO MARKING! • monitor progress (in the zondle grade book)
zondle engages students • Students can (for example): • play questions set by their teacher in any of 60+ games, online or mobile • monitor their progress • collect points and badges • compete with classmates • on leader boards
zondle enhances learning • zondle: • is researched based • Video game format creates heightened moments of engagement (increased synaptic dopamine), which teachers can exploit for learning • encourages students to engage with the learning content, to encode into long-term and automatic memory • preparefor high-stakes testing • At school or home • Flashcards or Zondle?! zondledemonstration *We will show you a few things you can do AFTER you set up your zondle account and have added your class(es). Use our notes or the zondle SUPPORT link for help setting up your class. SEARCH for a topic from the existing zondle Topics and set it to a class as a FORMATIVE assessment (This means they can practice it over and over). STEPS: CLICK: Search For Topic and type in keyword Click the + to preview the questions Edit Topic (you can edit or delete questions) Set topic to class(es) as formative or summative
zondledemonstration 2) CREATE a topic with your own questions and set it as a SUMMATIVE assessment (one-time test). STEPS: CLICK: Create Topic Name your topic and add Tags Select question type Add questions Set topic to class(es) as formative or summative
zondledemonstration Now you will be a student! 3) SET-UP a student account using a class code AND play a topic set by the teacher on the iPad mini. STEPS: Display class-code on board for students Students will log-in using class code (students should write down user name and password for future use)
zondledemonstration STUDENTS: -Take Rainforest and Doubles Facts Test -Finish early? Replay a topic OR choose any other topics to play -In 5 minutes, we will show the Leader Board and other Student Rewards
