Digital 5 School! We are a Digital 5 School. This means that each 5th grade student will receive their personal Lenovo Laptop that will be assigned to them for the school year! There will be a MANDATORY parent meeting one evening regarding the proper use and care of the laptops PRIOR to the students assignment of them.
Dear Parents, This year we are enthusiastically introducing a new character development program called Bucket Filling. Bucket filling is an easy-to-understand concept: “Everyone carries an invisible bucket that holds our good thoughts and feelings. When our buckets are full, we feel happy and when our buckets are empty, we feel sad.” Children quickly understand that they can fill buckets when they do and say things that are kind, considerate, caring and respectful. They also learn that when they are mean, inconsiderate, uncaring or disrespectful, they dip into buckets and remove those good feelings. Even the youngest child understands that actions and words can either fill a bucket or dip into it. During this school year we are encouraging, reminding and recognizing everyone’s efforts to be bucket filler at home, at school, and everywhere they go. We are excited about this new program and look forward to your support. If you would like to learn more about bucket filling, visit the Bucket Fillers website: bucketfillers101.com. Bucket fillers offers a free weekly e-newsletter for parents and teachers.
Volunteer Registration The volunteer process has changed a little this year. If a parent was an active volunteer last year, meaning they volunteered at least 4 hours, they do not need to complete another volunteer application. Only new volunteers, volunteers who did not register last year or who were inactive need to go to: http://www.getinvolvedineducation.com/ to complete a registration form. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Garcia at Mayte.Garcia@browardschools.com
