Base Words and -ed, -ing • If the base word ends with the letter e, you must drop the ebefore adding -ed or -ing. • If the base word ends with consonant- vowel-consonant, you must double the final consonant before adding -ed or -ing. For example: chasing- grabbed- (chase, drop the e, add -ing) (grab, double the b, add -ed)
