  7. What? • Student Councillors are Elected representatives of your cohort. • Through the entire Elections process, your peers may stand for election. • Soon, it will be up to you to decide who will form the 29th Students’ Council. 28

  8. Who? • Spearheaded by the Secretariat • Consists of secretaries and treasurers from all the different departments and house directorates • Plays an important role in internal communication within Council 28

  10. Nominations • There are 3 forms of nomination • Self Nomination • For those who are sure that they would like to join Council • Peer Nomination • For the school population to nominate their peers whom they feel to be suitable for Council • Teacher Nomination 28

  11. Council Week! • Static displays in the Canteen Walkway! • Starting Monday 23 Feb! • Other Council-organised activities are taking place too! 28

Self-Nominations • For those who, after thinking and reflecting, decide that they would like to join council. • People who self nominate will automatically be shortlisted for the interview stage. • However, if you self nominate, you will not be allowed to withdraw from the Elections process. • Please give enough thought to whether Council is for you. 28

  13. Self-Nominations: Procedures Self Nominations Period: 18th Feb (Wed) to 25th Feb (Wed)5.30PM Before self-nominating, please think about why you’d like to join Council. Go to the Hodge Lodge during Welfare Hours (2.30-5.30PM, Weekdays only) Request for a Self Nomination form from the councillor-on-duty. You will have to fill it up and submit by deadline. 28

  14. Peer-Nominations • Peer Nomination will take place on Wednesday, 25 Feb, during the Assembly Block. • Peer Nomination is compulsory for everyone. Attendance will be taken. • Peer Nominees may not be shortlisted into the Interview stage. 28

  18. College Functions • Every councillor also has 1 College Function to plan for, on top of all his/her duties • Total of 7 College Functions • National Day, Teachers’ Day, Graduation Night, Open House, Orientation, Take 5, Council Camp 28

  22. OPEN HOUSE • Showcasing Raffles’ very best and attracting students from all over the country • Raffles 360’ 2009 28

  23. ORIENTATION • Introducing new JC1 students to Raffles and bringing them on an exhilarating journey over a week of absolute fun • O’TIERO 2009! 28

  32. Creative Feedback • Collects feedback in an interesting manner • Through the use of unconventional methods like mascots and games 28

  33. WUTW • Disseminates info from school to students through the weekly Whats Up This Week email service • Will mend upcoming students’ website www.teamraffles.org which is an informal official school site 28

Dialogues • Conducts dialogue sessions for specially invited students to obtain their feedback about school events/issues • Sessions are characterized by a lot of talking, socializing and free food  • UPCOMING!!! • RAFFLES EXPRESSO • (OJISAN/OBASAN DIALOGUE SESSION) • 25th Feb • At Hodge Lodge with nice food like chocolate fondue and cakes provided for free (: 28

  35. Topical Feedback • Obtains feedback through surveys and polls done on paper or online • Analyses results and reports them to relevant authorities • - Organizing upcoming student forum ! 28

  36. CommzD After all the feedback has been collected…. We will write proposals to the school and push for CHANGES and improvements that students want to see. Eg. How functions like national day should be held, how to improve orientation, building of more facilities etc etc  28
