You can apply the instructions and use your own county data to practice the step-by-step process, but first perform a backup of your data.

Runs Menu • When you press OK, all the available runs appear in the window below • You can use the mouse to select a single run, or use the <ctrl> and <shift> keys to select and un-select runs the way you select and unselect files in Explorer

What are Run Directions? • The routes, composed of Garage Run(s), Deadhead Run(s) and Bus Run(s) are the outlines for the buses travel • Run directions fill in the details of how this is going to happen in your district’s road network • Run directions look for the fastest way to travel from point A to point B based on segment adjacencies, length, speed and direction • Fine tuning these attributes through Maris or within Edulog.nt allow the data to reflect “real world” times and distances for your bus runs
Directions for Loaded Runs • First, we will look at the processes for working with loaded runs • This does not include Garage or Deadhead portions of Routes
Getting Started • Create a list of runs • You will want several – all runs, runs for each school • Load the one you want to work with as a work list

Choose the list • Select your list
Parameters • Check “Update Run Times” • Decide whether or not to delete existing directions • Delete = rebuild in PTS-III • Begin processing
Messages • When processing is done, you will be given a message. If all runs processed… • If they didn’t… • You will see messages similar to what you have seen in PTS-III
Generate Directions for a Run Display a run or runs first (Runs>Display). To display directions Choose Runs>Graphical>Directions or click on Select other runs from list or map with mouse

Hide the run graphic • Unselect the run in the legend to simplify map

Identifying run segments • The pink segment is the same segment highlighted in the text box.
Gaps in Run Directions • If gaps appear in the run directions, it is easy to fill them in by clicking on the “Add” button located at the bottom of the text box of run directions
Filling in Run Direction Gaps The system will recommend a turn; click on Add + Next, confirm to fill in the gap
Exercise: Test Your Knowledge • Create a list for 308 am runs • Load it as a work list • Generate run directions for your list • Display directions for run 308.003 • Hide the run for 308.003 and all other runs and run directions • Practice changing the current run and identifying run directions from text and map.
Adding a Stop • Suppose you need to add a stop and put it onto a run…Stops >Graphical >Create or clicking gives you this screen to work with…….. Next, Select your School Select this Mouse icon and click on the map location or…. type in the stops address here Multiple Stop Creation? Click Next Stop!

Inserting Stops 1. Pick the Stop 2. Pick the Run 3. Pick the Position All of these selections can be made from a pull down menu, or using the mouse option to select the items on the screen

Deassigning Stops from a Run With a Run displayed, choose Stops >Graphical >Deassign Stop or click on to display this menu. Select the run Select the stop by Stop ID number or use the mouse and choose the stop Graphically.

Creating Runs 1. Pick the Run Number With unassigned stops displayed you can use the Runs >Graphical >Create option or click to start a new run for a school. This menu appears….. 2. Pick the Destination Time Click OK when done
Putting Stops on the Run The next window that appears is a very simple way to create the run sequence. You can use the mouse button on the window to select the first stop Use the “Next Stop” button to continue until all the stops are on then run. Click OK when Finished
With a run loaded select… Runs >Graphical >Open Run Summary or click on Button. Run Summary A quick and easy way to get more information about the run is from the run summary window.
Deleting a Run Before deleting a Run, you must deassign the stops from it first. Then with the Run displayed, choose Runs >Graphical >Delete or click to display this Menu…. Select the Run to delete and click OK You should get….
Run Edit: Renaming Runs • To rename a run: • load the run in display mode • go to Runs-Graphical-Rename • Click OK Practice • Load Run 308.005 • Rename this run
Run Edit: Other Run Functions • Copy Run can create a run identical to an existing run, • with different destination times. • Reverse Run creates a run identical to an existing run, • only in reverse order. • To use these functions: • Load Run • Go to Run-Group Processes • Select Copy or Reverse • Complete Copy or Reverse Run Dialogue Box • Click OK
Tabular Runs • Like Stops, there is a tabular runs feature in Edulog.nt • Use Runs >Tabular to see the an individual run record
Assigning Trips to Stop Services(Scheduling Trips) • To schedule a trip: • Go to Student Display of Trips (Students-Tabular-Trips) • Highlight the trip and click Schedule Trip • Schedule by specific stop ID (enter the ID in the space • provided) • OR select “Active Stops,” “Active or Inactive Stops,” or “Create • Stop Services As Needed” and click OK • Select desired stop (use display to see location of • student and each stop as you highlight it) • Add “Distance to stop” to display • Click Assign Stop
Assigning Trips to Stop Services(Scheduling Trips) • Trips can also be assigned using Quick Assign. • Highlight trip and click Quick Assign. • Edulog NT automatically assigns trip to the closest stop, creating a service, if needed.
Deadheads • NEW: The system automatically creates a “deadhead” run between the end of the morning runs and the beginning of the afternoon runs • If this is a different location than where the run ends, you will need to change this as well using the garage feature of route
Deadheads How To: • Create garage location where you park buses, using the school location • Add the garage location to the route • This will link your runs together • The system creates a “deadhead run” for these records and noted with a “-” symbol in the reports

Route Timeline • Edulog.nt does not have a graphic component to display routes as they are linked from garage runs to the first and last runs of the route • A route timeline is available • You can not obtain run directions using this component; only make run or time modifications
