Retreat Goal The goal of the Florida’s water quality monitoring council retreat is to foster collaboration, communication and cooperation among the water quality monitoring community, thereby facilitating improved efficiency and management of Florida's water resources. The retreat will strive to accomplish this goal by…

  4. Retreat Objectives • Encouraging diverse stakeholder interaction and input • Visualizing an ideal water monitoring community • Identifying issues that can be better addressed cooperatively • Agreeing on the process and committing to proceed

  5. Objective 1:Encouraging diverse stakeholder interaction and input • Issues common to multiple audiences • Solutions require collaboration and information sharing • Diverse viewpoints and experiences provide greater credibility • Together we can accomplish more than we can accomplish individually.

  6. Objective 2: Visualizing an ideal water monitoring community • Encourage creative thought processes • Remember why you wanted to protect water resources in the first place. • Start thinking about what a perfect monitoring community looks like.

  7. Objective 3: Identifying issues that can be better addressed cooperatively • Telephone interviews • On-line survey • Continued here during facilitated exercises • Continuous and challenging process

  8. Objective 4:Agreeing on the process and committing to proceed • Focus on the process, not the solution • Two more retreats over the next year to continue this effort. • Day two’s agenda will identify the projects and resources to continue • We’ve only just begun…
