  2. Les Adjectifs • Adjectives modify nouns • They describe shape, size, color and many other things about the noun • In French many adjectives come after the modified noun

  3. Les Adjectifs • In French the correct adjective depends on the nouns gender and number • (masculine/feminine/singular/plural)

  4. Formation • Adjectives are given in the masculine/singular form • To make regular adjectives feminine add -e • Grand Grande

  5. Formation • To make regular adjectives masculine/plural add -s • Grand Grands • Petit Petits

  6. Formation • To make regular adjectives feminine/plural add -es • Grand Grandes • Petit Petites

  7. Formation Singular Plural Masc. ---- -s Fem. -e -es

  8. Formation • If the mas/sing adjective already ends in -e, then do not add another -e to the fem/sing form • Rouge Rouge

  9. Formation • If the adjective in the mas/sing form ends in an -s, then do not add another -s in the mas/plural form • Gris Gris
