An assertion is an opinion statement that the author (YOU) intends to support with evidence. A = Assertion
Supply the evidence. Introduce the quotation by naming the speaker/narrator and explaining briefly the situation/context of the quotation. • Quote a word, phrase, line or lines from a text or source. • Evidence should support the assertion. E = Evidence
Comment on the quotation by writing several sentences explaining how the evidence supports the assertion. C = Commentary
