  4. PARTNERING WITH NON-GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATIONS (NGO) • Active Community Teams Servicing • ACTS is unique in their means of providing humanitarian services. Specializing in training high school and college age young adults in the United States as well as abroad to empower others in “Growing Through the Gospel of Serving.” They add to that a balance of an equal amount of adult “First Response Teams” and local community volunteers as a way to unite our communities in help, hope and healing! • Mission Statement“Providing leadership to empower youth volunteers in serving as a way of sharing the love of God, especially during times of disaster.” • Motto “Empowering Youth in Serving.” • Vision • “Integrating Youth Into Nation Building.”

Partnership in Practice • Background: • Northland started a disaster relief outreach as a result of Hurricane Katrina. • Recognized lacking in two key areas • Training • Relationships with local and state agencies • Met David Canther and recognized that ACTS WR provided resources that complimented Northland’s assets, goals and abilities. • A partnership was established developing a MOU – outlining how we would work together on a foundation of trust and faith.

Partnership in Practice • Current Status: • Northland is actively serving with ACTS WR in local and global deployments with volunteers from the following teams: • Emotional and Spiritual Team • Community Care Team • Medical Care Team • Kitchen and Food Prep Team • Transportation and Maintenance Team • An integrated team returned from deployment to Haiti on May 1st after participating in the ACTS Train-The-Trainer program utilizing local Haitian men and women.
