  3. France Télécom :NEXT To develop services and new products: a huge shift in the company culture To be an integrated group : fixed/mobile/Internet To transform the company, organisation and activity To globalise the Group

  4. France Télécom :NEXT Consequences : • Mobility of the workforce and development of teleworking • Evolution of jobs and competences • Downsizing • Offshoring, mergers and acquisitions and restructuring

  5. France Télécom : ACT • ACT : Anticipation and Competence for the Transformation of the Group • This is the HR aspect of the Group’s strategic transformation plan • This is a global plan to be applied by all the FT companies within the Group in all countries

  6. France Télécom : ACT • Downsizing and increased productivity over the last three years have had disastrous effects: • Stress, demotivation, depression, etc. ? • What will be the consequences of the planned changes? How does the Board of France Telecom intend to react?

France Télécom : ACT • The employee, with a role to play in his/her own professional development : To give each employee the means to draw up his/her own project in accordance with the Group’s strategy The personal development contract (volontary basis) : it gives a more official status to the agreement between the company and the employee regarding the latter’s career project.

  8. France Télécom : ACT • Questions we have to deal with : • How much room is there for collective and union action and what kind of support? • How to control and influence the process ? • What will happen to the employees who do not want to enter into a personal development contract ?

  9. France Télécom within the sector • The strategy pursued by FT is almost the same as that of all the big operators • High level of free cash flow once more • Big mergers and acquisitions again : AMENA, O2 etc • A new financial bubble in the future ?

Information and consultation of the national work council and the EWC BEFORE implementing strategic plans Negotiation (currently in progress) of an FT global agreement Setting up a global works council Recognition of trade union rights Compliance with the European directive on Teleworking
