  1. Emergency Markers Data Collection Process

  2. Marker Data Collection What data is collected? 9 Point Marker Data Checklist Distance in Metres Compass Direction(N, S, W, E) Directional Qualifier Permanent Features Potential Obstructions Intersection Street 1 & Street 2 Marker Index Marker X,Y Co-ordinates Marker Suburb Iterative Data Collection Loop This information provides the specific directions to reach the Marker Location. It may contain several segments of directional information until the Marker Location is reached. The Marker Index, Co-ordinates, Suburbs & Intersection information provide the directions to get the emergency response team to the most appropriate intersection.

  3. Marker Data Collection Exercise - Working Sheet Example of component CAD screen Iterative Data Collection Loop Optimum number of directional lines? Expectation of CAD operators & recipients?

Descriptions must have connector before the obstruction eg over, past, Arrive at Locked Gate,Also, Enter additional information to access area. Eg KEYS with POMC Control Room, Phone: 9645 2000 NOTES: The information is going to be dispatched via Radio, MDN to the ESO – as such descriptions should be succinct, clear and easy to understand.A new directional segment would commence upon reaching an obstruction, where a new path/road is taken or an intersection is reached en route to the marker. When describing navigation on a long path, road or route segment, it is not necessary to describe every permanent feature that is along the route unless it is something that would obviously add value. DO NOT USE LEFT AND RIGHT to describe features you are passing, For example, “Past toilet block to your left” …. Should be “Past toilet block” Where there is an obstruction such as a Locked Gate, instructions should be provided for getting access to Keys or any other equipment necessary. Permanent Features:This describes any features passed or noticed along the route segment. The Description must have a connector before the permanent feature – I e OVER, PAST, AROUND eg Past Toilet Block Compass Direction (N,S,W,E) : eg face North-East (Use eight points of a compass only) Distance in Metres: eg 80M Directional Qualifier:This information describes, the path, road name on which you travel for the given distance and directioneg Uphill along Gravel Path
