Million Dollar Question is:Where do we want to go? The importance of strategic planning is for an organization to develop its long term goals in order to appropriately focus its energy Every organization should have a vision of where it wants to be 1-5 years from now
Strategic Planning Outline • Requires an organizational commitment • Review of organizational history • Set clear and measurable goals of what should be achieved • Develop strategies for achieving goals Note that: strategic planning can be used to look at the entire organization or to focus on an area of the organization.

Proposed plan of Action: • Form a committee at a state level to promote conferences, increase publication and member recruitment • Create a Texas chess in education forum, which will facilitate sharing of information and allow members to instruct local communities • Continue to have annual meeting at State Scholastic tournament, co-sponsored by TCA. Evaluate having additional meetings • Have proposed committee set clear & measurable goals of what should be accomplished • Work closely with UT-Dallas, UT-Brownsville and Texas Tech to promote efforts
