  1. 5 MISTAKES BEGINNERS IN WATER COLOR PAINTING SHOULD AVOID! Ever thought why as a beginner in water color painting you keep faltering despite all your best efforts? It’s likely that you are repeating the same set of mistakes over and over again, thus nullifying all the progress that you could have been making. It’s about time you identified and rectified those mistakes once and for all so that they no longer impede your path to mastering the water color art. Here are some common mistakes related to water color painting STEP 1 NOT LAYERING THE PAINTS PROPERLY Firstly, resist the urge to keep applying layers of paint one after the other. The trick is to use as few layers of paint as you can, this is what’s going to give your painting that fresh, clean look.Secondly, avoid layering over damp paints. STEP 2 OVERCROWDING WITH TOO MANY ELEMENTS Being new to water color painting, you should be selective about what elements you want to showcase in the subject of your painting. Including more details and elements isn’t always the best idea. STEP 3 NOT USING THE RIGHT PAINT BRUSH It’s advisable to have a variety of paint brushes, ranging from small to large, ready on hand even before you start working on a water color art. That way you will be able to easily access the appropriate brush when its need arises. STEP 4 PAINTING USING DIRTY WATER When you paint with dirty water, you run the risk of turning even your best and brightest looking colors into something drab. The remedy is simple, just change the water when you find that it has become too muddy. You always want to work using clean water. STEP 5 WORKING SLOW WITH THE WASHES Applying wash over a large area can be hard and tricky. But you should try your best to get it done as soon as possible. If you take too many breaks in between and let the applied paint to dry out, you might get irregular color marks on your water color painting.
