As a portrait photographer I like the ones that capture a family feeling good. The family planned to come in and sit for their portrait. This can cause them to look self-conscious. The challenge for a family portrait photography is to find the moment when the family members reveal a side of themselves that they'll want to preserve. Trying to smile while their eyes and attention wander, they may look grim. Sometimes a more relaxed expression looks happier than a big grin. Sometimes people seem embarrassed by something about their appearance, and I can't even see what they're trying to hide. Often imperfections that look conspicuous in the mirror don't show in a family portrait.

2. Young children are restless. If they're old enough to understand what a portrait photographer Melbourne is doing, they want it to be done as soon as they sit down. Other family members try to get a baby to smile then can't get their faces back into the picture while the baby is laughing. Sometimes a moment of humor can help pull the family portrait together. Today's family portraits don't have to look solemn or formal. They can show movement; they can be fun for children. Photographers in Melbourne use props that catch children's attention, like toys and balloons. A family portrait can show a family in a huddle or a group hug, not necessarily seated on chairs. I wouldn't even rule out joking..."On the count of three, let's say 'Melbourne Family Portrait Photo Award'!" Is there really an official award? Not necessarily, but if everyone enjoys thinking about the idea, their eyes light up and they'll smile as they say "three." These are the moments that brighten my days as a photographer.
