Why Are Credit Unions Getting Involved? • A once-in-a-generation opportunity to provide critical support to members at a time of great need and confusion • Offer affordable, high quality health insurance solutions that are closely tied to the members’ financial health • An opportunity to deepen relationships with current members and attract new members • May cross-sell an HSA, checking account or other products with a CoOportunity Health plan • Generate non-interest income through referral fees • An easy process to connect members with expert help • If credit unions do not help members now, who will?
Why Are Credit Unions Partnering with CoOportunity Health? • Mission alignment. Credit unions are committed to helping people improve their financial lives. CoOportunity Health is about helping people enjoy a lifetime of better health. We believe financial and health literacy go hand-in-hand to help members achieve the best possible well-being. • Nonprofit. Like credit unions, CoOportunity Health is a not-for-profit organization managed by and for its members. Any savings will be used to increase member benefits and lower premiums, similar to the mission of credit unions whose profits are returned to members in the forms of lower rates on loans, higher savings rates and fewer fees. • Member-run and governed. Credit unions and CoOportunity Health are run by and for their members. All members have an equal voice and vote. • Local. This partnership is focused on serving members in Iowa and Nebraska. • Member-focused. As cooperatives, credit unions and CoOportunity Health are focused solely on their members and how to provide value and service to those members. • Shared passion for member advocacy and education. Credit unions and CoOportunity Health care about providing outreach and information to help meet the members’ financial and health needs.
Group Benefits Limited’s Role • Serving as CoOportunity Health’s agent on record exclusively marketing and selling CoOportunity Healthinsurance through the credit union partnership • Follow up on referrals to match members’ needs with CoOportunity Health options • Promote & refer members to credit union’s Health Savings Account program
