Your human rights are; • 1998 all UK citizens were given fundamental rights and freedoms in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights • Right to Life • Freedom from torture and degraded treatment • Freedom from slavery and forced labour • The right to liberty • The right to a fair trail • The right to not be punished for something that wasn't a crime when you did it • The right to respect for private and family life • Freedom of thought, conscience and religion • Freedom of expression • Freedom of assembly and association • The right to marry or form a civil partnership • The right not to be discriminated against in respect to these rights and freedoms • The right to own a property • The right to an education • The right to participate in free elections
Aim and Outcomes • To understand human rights in the UK • All will know what is meant by a human right and what the Charter of Fundamental Rights is. • All will collect information on why human rights are important for Christians • Most will answer a 4 and 8 mark question to a C grade • Few will answer a 6 mark question to a C grade
