Learning Technology • The practice of making learning and improving performance possible by creating, using and managing correct technological practice and resources.
Theories and Practices • Three main theoretical schools have been present in the educational Learning literature. • Behaviorism • Cognitivism • Constructivism
Continued… • Behaviorism- Psychologists used this theory to describe and experiment with human learning. While still very useful this philosophy of learning has lost favor with many educators. • Cognitivism- Cognitive theory look beyond behavior to explain brain-based learning. They consider how human memory works to promote learning. • Constructivism- is a learning theory or educational philosophy that many educators began to consider in the 1990s. One of the primary tenets of this philosophy is that learners construct their own meaning from new information, as they interact with reality or others with different perspectives.
The Present Smith says that software keeps students interested in the class, their attention span is bigger, concentration is better and even their grades have improved. "They don't even know they're learning and they're learning. It makes it fun for them they don't think it's boring and want to come to school to play the game not realize they're learning concepts," says Smith. http://www.tampabays10.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=88999&catid=8
