Schedule • Four day Block Schedule – Day 1 - 4 • Semester classes Sept. 2 – Jan. 30 Feb. 2 – June 26 • Regents Science classes run all year meeting 3 days out of 4 day cycle • 3 marking periods each semester • Final exams (local or State) – 1/3 of average • 5 minute passing time between Classes

  3. Schedule Changes • Schedule Changes may be requested during the first four days of each semester. • To drop a class from a schedule, another class must be added to take its place. • Students must follow their original schedule until the change is complete. • Changes become official once the form is returned to the guidance office with all necessary signatures. • After the first four days of the semester, schedules are final and no changes will be allowed.

  8. Requirements for Graduation Regents Diploma – 65 or above on 5 required Regents exams Earn 22 credits Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation 65 or above on 8 required Regents exams + regional Language Exam. Earn 22 credits

  9. Two Local Graduation Requirements • Two bi-elective classes (1 credit) – focused on real life topics, issues, and information. Road to Success • Community Service Hours – 30 hours spread over 3 years.

  11. Attendance Policy If you are not physically present in a class for any reason you are considered absent. Must attend at least half the Block to be recorded as present School sponsored absences are the only absences that can be made up. You must talk to your teacher on how they would like you to make it up. (within 3 days or it is an absence) Let us know immediately if you are going to be out an extended period of time.

  12. Attendance Policy Attendance Requirement (High School): In order to obtain credit for courses, a student must not surpass the maximum number of days allowed absent from class as specified below. (85% attendance) Physical Education – 3 blocks Bi-Elective Semester courses – 6 blocks Semester Courses and BOCES Voc. courses–13 blocks Full Year ACE/AP Courses (Physics, English, Spanish)-13 Regents Science Courses – 20 Full Year courses (band/choir) – 26 blocks

  13. Absences • If absent, please bring excuse to main office the next day • An excuse not brought in by the third day after an absence, the absence is recorded as illegal. • HW requests, please call before 7:45AM

  14. Attendance and Extra-Curricular Activities • Need to be present by 10:00 or you will not be eligible to attend or participate in afternoon or evening activities. • Released from the nurse’s office for illness not eligible to attend or participate in afternoon or evening activities. .

  15. New this year! • Freshman Seminars – During advisement every day 3, freshman students will be attending informational seminars. Topics such as: transitioning into HS, technology, goal setting, healthy living, study skills, guidance information, etc.

  16. Block 6 End of the School day is 3:00pm. Students who do not need to stay for extra help, teacher detention, academic probation, or to make-up missing assignments, may leave at 2:14pm.

  17. Academic Probation • End of each marking period – students with a failing grade (or grades) will meet with the Dean of Students to set up a schedule for Block 6. • The focus of this block 6 schedule will be to provide students with extra help and time to get back on track in the class(es).

  19. Use of tobacco on School Grounds • If you use any tobacco products on school grounds. • 1st offense - 3 days ISS • 2nd offense - 1 day OSS and 2 days ISS • 3rd offense - 3 days OSS • 4th offense - 5 days out of school and possible Superintendents hearing

  20. Tardiness Students must be in their first block class by 7:30 AM. If you are late to school you must sign in the main office.

  21. Tardiness • Students are expected to be in classes on time. • Passing time is 5 minutes between classes. • Tardy Policy Numerous illegal tardies will result in a meeting with the dean of students and possible administrative consequences.

  22. LEAVING SCHOOL GROUNDS • Once you arrive on school property you can not leave without permission. • Anybody found leaving school grounds without permission is subject to a SOS.

  23. DRESS CODE Dress,grooming,appearance,hair, jewelry,make-up, and nails should: • Not disrupt educational process • Be safe • No hats, headbands, bandanas or other head coverings between 7:30AM-2:14PM • No chains are to be worn. • Long coats put in locker. • Not promote or endorse the use of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs and should not encourage violence or illegal activities

  24. Dress Code cont. Inappropriate: • Not be provocative or immodest Revealing Necklines Tops with straps less than 2 inches or w/o backs Tops that do not cover the mid-section See through garments Pants and shorts not worn above the hips All undergarments should be completely covered Skirts must be finger tip length when hands and arms are extended down. Shorts must be thumb length when hands and arms are extended down.

  25. Acceptable Use Policy This policy will be in your opening day packet of information, be sure to read this carefully. If you have questions, please contact the technology department directly.

  26. Netbooks • Netbook Agreement – signed last year by the parents • Netbooks assigned on Wednesday, Sept. 2nd • Students will watch one orientation video • You are responsible for this device for the remainder of the school year. • Expectation is that they will be taken to every class and charged every evening.

  27. Miscellaneous Items • May not enter the building until 7:00am • No food in the hallways • Any signs displayed in the school must be pre-approved • Taking pictures using a cell phone is prohibited on school grounds. • No back packs, bags, or purses are to be carried from classes and between classes. They should stay in your locker until the end of the day • High school students are not permitted in the Middle School building at any time.

  28. Miscellaneous • Gym Lockers must be locked when you leave locker room. • Bullying / Harassment – report as soon as possible – Dignity for All Students Act

  29. Block 6 - 2:14 – 3:00 • Students are not permitted in hallways unsupervised. • If you are waiting for a practice or activity that doesn’t begin until 3:00pm you must leave the building, stay with a teacher, wait in the library or high school lobby. • All students should be involved in a supervised activity or waiting for a ride in the HS lobby –(by HS office) at 3:00pm.

  30. Cell Phones/IPODS/Electronic Devices • Must be turned off and out of sight from 7:30 – 2:14 • However, during your lunch time, while you are in the cafeteria, you may use these devises. • Violation of this policy will result in the device being taken, and possible disciplinary consequences. Parents will need to pick up the device in the High School office

  31. Building Security • There are security cameras in all hallways, cafeterias, gym, pool, and all exterior doors. • If you have a problem, tell us we can probably see it on camera. • Remember if you try to leave school without notifying the office we will see you leave.
