Chapter 5. The Education Act § 27. In this law, a student is severely disabled if he or she has a physical disability that by itself or in combination with another disability means that the student must have: • Access to a school with equipment and programs specially adapted to persons with physical disabilities in order to pursue educational programs at the upper secondary level, and • Physical rehabilitation and in some cases accommodation in student boarding homes that provide personal care services. (Education Act 2002:137).
Chapter 5. The Education Act § 28. Young persons with severe physical disabilities have the right to an education at an upper secondary school where the programs and equipment are adapted to physical disabilities as per Paragraph 7 if he or she • Has completed the final year of secondary school or the equivalent,* • Can begin an educational program at the latest in the first six months of the calendar year of his or her 21st birthday, and • Satisfies the other requirements for the specific educational program. * This does not apply to the Individual Choice Program. A student may enter the Individual Program when his/hers education at the secondary school level or the equivalent has come to an end.

ADAPTATION Equipment and programs are adapted in many different ways to match educational needs.
The path to RG in Kristianstad Grade 8. One-day visit Interest is inspired by school career counselor, rehabilitation staff, parents or friend. Before the four-day visit RG contact person is planing the visit depending on the interests of the student. Grade 9. Four-day visit The student looks at one or more educational programs, meets teachers and staff from school, rehabilitationand boarding homes. Sleeps at student boarding home. Application to RG Application is sent to the Disability Board in Stockholm.
APPLICATION to Riksgymnasiet • Application in three parts can be downloaded from www.spsm.se • Deadline for application: January 15 • The Disability Board meets at the end of March • Students receive notification of acceptance at the beginning of April • Acceptance procedure is finalized by mid-April
