Sango Elementary Monday, November 7, 2011 Reading This week our story is “Wings for the King.” Vocabulary words are: permit, subject, worthless, scoundrel, admiringly. The reading skill is Authors Purpose and the genre of the story is that it is a play. Reading Test Thursday! Language Arts We will complete our unit on verbs with a test on Thursday. Study pages 182-195 in text to help prepare. Math Students will continue long division. This week they will take a quiz on three digits dividends divided by 1 digit divisors. They will begin dividing by two digit divisors. Please continue to practice division facts with students. Math Superstars lesson V is Monday and lesson VI is due on Thursday. Science Students completed their first STEM challenge called SHIPS AHOY! Our standard was to create a simple design to test mass, force, and distance. What an amazing experience. We will begin reading in chapter 6 and working on the vocabulary that goes with it. Social Studies We end our study of Westward Expansion (Ch. 3) with a test on Wednesday. The study guide came home today. If you are having trouble locating a book to help with the Civil War project, remember the whole book does not have to be about the person. You can use books about the Civil War that have the person as part of it. Spelling words with a “schwa” from the story “Wings for the King.” Test Thursday!
