Bathroom Project For Silver Creek R.C SchoolSilver Creek village, Belize • Location: Silver Creek is located in the Toledo District. • Population: About 500+ people. • Currently Searching for a donor to fund this project! Village Background Silver Creek is a small Mayan community located in the Toledo District, about 12.77 miles from Punta Gorda Town. In the same location, there is a stream by the same name of the community. This littleMayan village has been through much toil, but has seen great development since it’s establishment in 1968. The name “Silver Creek” is derived from the existence of a creek that ran close to the village. A small waterfall on the creek would cause its foam to look like sparkling silver, thus the name of the village. The creek is the main source of water for the people living in Silver Creek. The people of Silver Creek’s main source of income is derived from the harvest of rice and corn that they would plant as well as other produce. Water Missions Belize made an assessment of the community of Silver Creek, and results showed that the water supply was no issue. However, the evaluation of the village resulted in findings that determined the need of bathrooms for the Primary School. The completion of this project will render 30 preschool students and teachers access to good, clean bathrooms.
