‘We’re singing in the Rain’We believe it is important to provide the children with the opportunity to engage in outdoor play during the wetter months. The benefits of outdoor play for children are undeniable. Playing outdoors provides a stimulating environment that can be both physically and cognitively challenging. Just add water and the possibilities for play-based learning explorations multiply. Children are naturally drawn to water and are innately curious about the natural world so it makes sense to take advantage of rainy days for outdoor experiences.Children need to experience all types of weather and when it comes to outdoor play, wet can be wonderful. Things smell, feel, sound and look different in the rain. Wet sand acts differently to dry sand. Dirt becomes mud. Surfaces are slippery and squelchy. Puddles appear and creatures come out.It is important that the children are dressed appropriately during wet weather outdoor play. We would like to encourage you to bring; A raincoat Gumboots Slippers (to change into inside) A change of clothingWe look forward to continuing the fun outside throughout winter. Of course if it is extremely wet, cold or windy we will not go outside. The website below has some wonderful ideas for rainy day outdoor activities that might interest you.http://www.weekendnotes.com/top-outdoor-rainy-day-activities-for-kids/Rain
