USING SOLV3D APPLICATIONS ENGINE, ENCOMPASS & ADMINISTRATION
SETUP • For today's training, we will need: • A laptop with • An internet connection • Google Chrome, Firefox or Edge • SOLV3D engine installed • Access to the SOLV3D encompass Environment • The training sample files loaded • SOLV3D encompass credentials
AGENDA • Using SOLV3D engine™ (Engine) • Workflows • Data Cleanup • Documentation • SOLV3D encompass™ (Encompass) Administration • Project Setup • Sharing • Using Encompass • Settings • Tools • Annotations • Support
Engine • We will be covering the following topics: • Overview • Typical Workflows • LAS Viewer • Data Cleaning and preparation • Documentation and Tips
Menu bar • LAS View allow viewing of the LAS file (point cloud) • License • Setting • Help • Function menu (left) • A list of over 30 different functions and conversion tools • Information icon to the left will open a description of the function • Click on a function to add it to the Operations Window
Operations workflow window • Click on a couple of functions to load them into the window • Chain/link functions together by clicking on output arrow and then clicking again on input on another function. • Functions • Left side are all inputs and parameter for the function to work • Right side is all the possible outputs for the algorithm
LAS Viewer • Exercise • Lets load the sample LAS - Sample.las from the training folder • Looking in the Menus • FILE: • Choose the number of point to display • If changed, reload your LAS file • INFO: • File name, total points and number of loaded points • When hovering over a point, the x,y,z will show in parenthesis () • CAMERA: • Can adjust the types of views • DATA: • Allows for manipulation of the view. Most are self explanatory • Colorization will give different perspectives on the point cloud • Classification Visibility – once classified this allows the user to turn on and off the classes
Workflows • Able to be saved • Load a saved workflow • Functions can be linked
Batch Mode • By checking the batch mode box, you are able to process a file folder of LAS files. • This works best by processing data one functions at a time, however via wildcards, you can chain together function if needed • LAS Directory: navigate to the folder where the files are stored • Entre the Wildcard String (*.las) • Enter all the parameters as required • Execute • NOTE: Not all functions will have the Batch Processing option.
Utility Within the Utility list there are many functions to convert data formats, projections, offsets, etc.
Documentation • Aside from the buttons present in the application itself, additional tutorials and documentation can be found here: • https://solv3d.com/support/
Encompass Admin • We will be covering the following topics: • Creating a Project - Client Hosted Data • Adding Camera Data • Inviting Users • Licenses
Creating a Project - Client Hosted Data • Point clouds will need to be processed in Engine prior to loading into Encompass. Please refer to the Engine Training document. • The Organizational Admin is currently able to create projects. Once created, they can then assign project permissions to the project owner to load any addition information. • Management tab • Project Manager • Select New Project
Creating a Project - Continued • Projection will need to be defined. If the projection is not showing the drop down, the it will need to be defined in Projections • to add a new projection a project, use the search feature. Then select the appropriate projection. • Project Type - From the dropdown menu, select “Remote” • The root URL for the project. This is the directory that contains the points and images directories. Note: omit any leading “https:// or http://” from your URL.
Adding Cameras to a Project • Once your project has been created, select it in the project selection window to bring up additional configuration settings. • Under the “Images” Section, click “Add Orientation CSV,” then select the CSV that contains the camera locations with these columns: Filename, X, Y, Z, Roll, Pitch, Yaw (or heading). After a few moments, a modal window containing a map should appear. The circle on the map should approximately be the location of the project. If this is not the case, there is likely an issue with the projection being used. If everything looks correct, this window can be closed. Finally, click the “Process New Data” button to add the cameras to the project. This step may take some time, but an email will be sent once it is completed.
Adding Cameras to a Project - Continued • After this step, the project will be ready to view. Be sure to assign the necessary permissions for this project for any other users. • Choose File • Navigate to required file • Upload • Ensure that the necessary permissions are given to project users.
Inviting Users • Use the User Management function on the left. • Add the email of the new user
Inviting Users • Select the project from Available Projects that you want the user to have access too • Add the project to either the Standard Permission or Admin Permission box • Standard users can not invite users or load features
License Types • Standard License • A full function license that allows concurrent users to access all the features and modules of Encompass. More users may have login credentials to the application than the number of licenses purchased, but only one user per license may access the application at a time. • One user must be named as the “administrator”, and will have special rights to: • Grant users’ access to specific projects. • Viewer (View Only) License • A restricted function license that allows an anonymous user access to the application for viewing of the data only. There are no other functions available to this license type (e.g. no measurements, tags, folders, etc.). They are able to view existing measurements, tags, folders, etc., which have been created by a Standard License user. • To share a view only project: • Copy of the URL of the project • Send that to the unlicensed user • When they initially click on the link, they will be prompted for enter their name, email and phone number. (if cookies are cleared, they will be prompted again) • Training License • A full function license that is the same as a standard license and has full access to the application features and modules but is time limited and expires two weeks after being enabled.
