Improvements and Investigations Improvements • We are updating the CrIS/ATMS Tuning with CrIS/ATMS observations that will improve the Yield as well as the Retrieval Accuracy • We will update error covariance matrix associated with the radiance in the EDR algorithm to better represent the sensor noise and RTM related errors • Tweaking some of the pre-launch Thresholds • Investigations • Rejection of Polar Cases by both the ‘MW-only’ Stage and the IR+MW stage requires investigation. • Land/Sea Boundary rejections by MW-only Stage • Confusion of clear/overcast over the Polar Regions • Night time IR convergence is far better than Daytime IR convergence. What is causing the Daytime drop-out in QC needs to be investigated
