Research Goal • Implement new video capture and personal electronic health record platform. • Assist parents and school multidisciplinary teams in creating IEPs. • Improve support within the school setting for students with autism spectrum disorders.

Technology: Store & Forward • A tool for parents and school team members • Communicate developmental, emotional and behavioral information about the child. • This platform meets the security, privacy and control requirements set by HIPAA. • Technology is easy to use. • Requires only a video recorder and computer with internet access.
Method • Participants: • Three families from ICACD. • Each currently carry a confirmed diagnosis on the autism spectrum. • Procedure: • Families were given a general outline to record a brief developmental history of their child. • Pre / post questionnaire was given.
Brief History & Vision of ICACD • History • Experience with Idaho Families. • Comprehensive services for their children with neurodevelopmentaldifferences. • Interdisciplinary Model - Primary Care, Psychiatry, Other Medical Disciplines, O/T, SLP, P/T, LCSW, LMFT, Allergists, G/I, Hospital Based Services, Community Support Services • Vision • Advance family-centered care in every encounter. • Acknowledge patient and family expertise and strengths. • Encourage input. • Acknowledge the value of the family’s observations..
Outcome • Responses by clinicians and families • Positive • Hopeful • Recording and Storing data for electronic medical records • Efficient • Meaningful • Safe
Further Work • 12 month pilot study • Evaluate benefits of the technology in a field study. • Focus on functionality and useability. • Studies to implement this technology in other fields.
Changes • Streamline calendars/syllabus/time-line. • 1 document & 1 calendar • Better organization = less confusion. • Consider number of weeks without didactic sessions. • During weeks without didactic students seemed to lose focus.
