  1. Locust Attack Facts And Solution World was already facing covid- 19 crisis and shortly after couple of months from corona virus pandemic we faced threat to food security in form of locust attack in India and other parts of the world. Locust are a collection of certainspecies of short-horned grasshoppers in the family Acrididae that have a swarming phase. 1

  2. Here are few facts on locusts attack which took place in 2020. — Soil health. Advanced fertilizer formulations, deep-soil sensors, and improved pest and pathogen detection systems can dramatically reduce nitrogen and nutrient loss, while breaking down potentially harmful residues from the soil environment. Healthy soil is the foundation for more vigorous crops, and a wide range of soil enhancement technologies – from microbial to soil regeneration technologies – now offer ways to both manage water usage and improve soil health. Residue-free, nature-based options can help reduce erosion, maximize water infiltration, improve nutrient cycling, maximize aeration, and greatly improve the resiliency of farmland. headed toward Africa and the other headed towards Iran and Pakistan reaching India. 2020 Locust attack is the worst locust attack in 70 years. Due to the attack countries like Kenya, Somalia and Pakistan declared national emergencies. Countries like Ethopia, Tanzania, Uganda are looking at food crises. Millions of farmers may suffer losses. FAO estimated food loss worth billions globally due to the locust attack. A kilometre may have 40 to 80 million locusts which can destroy food of 35,000 people just in a single day. The Swarm in India is approximately 17.5 km long and 2.5 km wide and it is spreading fast to the other Indian states like Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. If the locusts are allowed to lays eggs now, it is predicted that the number will increase 8000 times. This locusts attack stated because of the climate change and unusual rain In the Arabian gulf caused by frequent cyclones which created favourable conditions for locusts to multiply in the empty quarter desert of Yeman. The swarm of that left Yeman divided into two, one — Water waste protections. Eutrophication, or water pollution, due to farming creates significant GHG. Working in concert with the soil health technologies noted above providing a way to use water more efficiency, soil-based and aerial sensors can substantially reduce watering inefficiencies while improving the quality and safety of water runoff. Tapping the value of new artificial intelligence advances and smart water monitoring techniques, we can better understand what is in our water at any given moment to mitigate any possible health concerns on the farm and beyond. 2

  3. To control the locust from spreading rapidly we need some kind of pest control which will help us control the situation. Crop protection companies like UPL have tried and tested crop protection solution to handle this situation. Solutions from UPL do not harm the environment or people, they can save our food and farmers form locust.
