Purpose of App • Streamline communications • Reduce/Remove individual text messages being sent • Reduce paper information (letters/forms) • Links with website • Provide a platform for parents, teachers, students and past pupils to access info about the school • Most people now have a smartphone or tablet that information can be sent to • Apps are becoming one of the main methods of communication • News apps, shopping apps, weather apps etc.

Benefits of the app • Easy to download and use • Option to select information you would like to receive • Only tick the items that are relevant to and useful for you • Sends out push notifications. No need to be on wi-fi • Notifications can be sent or scheduled outside of school hours • Reaches a large body of users (currently over 3000 downloads) • Reduces the amount of queries/calls to the office • General info about school and activities on website and the app • This will be our main form of communication for sports and other ECA a well as TY

Extremely useful for Information is there- just access it • General static information about the school • Transition Year • Extra Curricular Activities (hockey, rugby, basketball, drama etc.) • Picture galleries of events • School calendar, website and VSWARE • Notifications automatically posted to website One stop shop for school info

Too much information???? • Check your notification settings • Know the difference between a push notification and a general notice on the app • Sometimes its on us……… apologies We endeavour to make sure that all notifications are sent out properly and to the correct categories. Sometimes this doesn’t happen. If you feel you really get too much info then do one of the following • Deselect all options • Disable notifications for this app on your phone settings • Delete the app
