  1. Vocabulary Improving your vocabulary is an easy way to improve your writing, and to sound more intelligent. The pretty girl walked to the store. The vivacious diva sauntered to the boutique. The antiquated and battered lady shuffled into the café.

  2. “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” -Benjamin Franklin Instead of just looking our vocabulary up and writing out definitions. we are going to be involved in teaching the meaning of a word and then applying to our writing.

  3. Vocabulary Assignment #1 • PART ONE • You will pick a vocabulary word from the box. • You must look up the vocabulary word and find out the definition(s). • You must rewrite the definition in such a way that it makes sense.

  4. Vocabulary Assignment #1 • PART TWO • You and must now decide how to demonstrate the word to the class. • This is not charades! You may talk or explain what you are doing and you may use props if need be. • After you ‘perform’ your word you must read out your definition.

  5. Vocabulary Assignment #1 • PART THREE • You must EACH write a sentence with you vocabulary word in it. • This can not be just any old sentence. This must be an opening line to a writing piece. • Relax, you don’t have to write a whole story just an opening line to the greatest story every ‘not’ written.
