Getting Ready for the Study Abroad Experience REQUIREMENT D1: ONLINE PRE-DEPARTURE & IN-COUNTRY COURSE • 1 credit Winter or Summer Term (P/F) running throughout your program abroad • Provides knowledge and skills SA participants need to make the most of their experience. • Strategies, knowledge, and skills from the Pre-Departure Portion for: • * determining personal goals • * understanding cultural and social characteristics of SA destination(s) • * exploring global and local differences • * understanding intercultural adjustment and communication

Staying focused during your Study Abroad Experience • -ABROAD ONLINE IN-COUNTRY PORTION of GLST394 • Variable-length portion during SA • Applying knowledge about intercultural learning, adjustment, and cross-cultural communication in the abroad environment (building on pre-departure goals) • Help students narrow the research topic and gather information for GLST490
Upon Return from your Study Abroad ExperienceGLST 490 • REQUIREMENT D3: 90 / 492 CAPSTONE SEMINAR • 2/4-credit regular semester course right upon return from you SA Experience (Letter Grade). • Required upon return (semester immediately following return to Binghamton) • Provides students with the learning context to integrate skills and knowledges acquired throughout the Minor • Requires students to complete their Professional Interest Project (seeds are found in their work of 394)
