3. Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is One! Blessed be the name of His glorious kingdom, forever and ever. Amein. Shema

4. After this Yeshuacrossed over to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee (which is the Tiberias Sea). A large crowd followed him, because they observed the miraculous signs he performed on the sick. Yeshua went up a mountain and sat down there with his disciples. The Jewish Passover Feast was soon. John 6:1-4

5. When Yeshualooked, and observed that a large crowd was coming towards him, he asked Philip, “Where are we going to buy bread for these people to eat?” • Yeshuaonly asked him this to test him, because he already had in mind what he was going to do. • Philip answered, “Thousands of dollars’ worth of bread isn’t even enough for everyone to have a little bit!” John 6:5-9

6. Another of his disciples, Andrew who was Simon Peter’s brother, said “Here’s a person with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far are they going to go among so many people!”

7. Yeshuasaid, “Get the people to sit down.” • There was plenty of grass there, so they sat down. (There were about 5,000 men). Yeshuapicked up the bread and thanked God. He distributed the bread to those reclining for their meal, and did the same with the fish. They could have as much as they wanted. When they were full, Yeshua said his disciples, “Collect all the leftovers, so that nothing’s wasted.” John 6:10-12

8. So they collected the leftovers and filled 12 wicker baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten. • When the people saw the miraculous sign that Yeshuadid, they said, “He really is the prophet who was to come into the world!” John 6:13-15

9. When Yeshuarealized that they intended to come and grab him so they could make him king, he went away again by himself to the mountain.

10. When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea and embarked on a boat. They set sail to Capernaum. It was already dark and Yeshuahadn’t joined them yet. A strong wind was coming in and the seas were rough. When they had rowed about three miles, they saw Yeshua approaching the ship, walking on the water. John 6:16-21

11. They were terrified! Yeshua said to them, “It’s me! Don’t be afraid!” • So they intended to get him into the ship, but immediately the ship was at the shore where they were headed!

12. The next day the crowd was still on the opposite shore of the lake. The previous day they had noticed that only one boat had been there, and that Yeshuahadn’t got on board with his disciples, but that the disciples had gone off alone. Then some boats from Tiberias landed near the place where the people had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks to God. John 6:22-24

13. So when the crowd realized that Yeshuawasn’t there, nor were his disciples, they got into the boats and went to Capernaum to look for him.

14. When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked, • “Rabbi, when did you get here?” • “I want to make this quite clear,” Yeshuaanswered. “You’re looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because your hunger was satisfied by the bread you ate. John 6:25-27

15. Do not work for perishable food, but for food that lasts, the food of eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. The Father has placed his seal of approval on him.”

16. They asked him, “Then what do we have to do, in order to do the work God would have us do?” • “This is the work God would have you do – to believe the One he has sent!” Yeshuaanswered. John 6:28-33

17. They asked again, “What miraculous sign will you do, so we can see it and believe you? What are you going to do? Our ancestors ate the manna in the desert, as the Scriptures say, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”

18. Yeshuareplied, “Let me emphasize this, it isn’t Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. God’s bread is the One who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

19. “Sir, give us this bread all the time!” they exclaimed. Yeshuasaid to them, “I myself am the bread which gives life! The person who comes to me will never get hungry, and the person who believes me will never get thirsty. But I’ve already told you, you have seen and still you don’t believe! Everyone the Father gives me will come to me, and I won’t turn away anyone who comes to me. John 6:34-41

20. I haven’t come down from heaven to do what I want to do, but to do what him who sent me wants me to do. • “This is what the One who sent me wants – that I won’t lose any of the ones he has given me, but that I will raise them up on the Last Day. This is my Father’s purpose – that everyone who looks to the Son and believes him will have eternal life. I will certainly raise that person up on the Last Day.

21. So certain Jews started complaining about him, on the grounds that he had said, “I myself am the bread that came down from heaven.” • They said, “Isn’t this Yeshua, the son of Joseph? We know his father and mother! How on earth can he say that he came down from heaven!’” John 6:41-46

22. “Stop complaining among yourselves!” Yeshuaexclaimed. “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and I will certainly raise them up on the Last Day. It has been written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’

23. Everyone who has listened to and learnt from the Father comes to me. No one has seen the Father except the One who is from God – only he has seen the Father.

24. “Let me emphasize this, the person who believes has eternal life. I certainly am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert and they died. Here is the bread that comes down from heaven, bread that someone can eat and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. John 6:47-52

25. If anyone eats this bread, they will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give so the world may live.” • So certain Jews started fighting amongst themselves. They said, “How can this person give us his flesh to eat?”

26. Yeshuasaid to them, “Let me make this quite clear, unless you eat the flesh of the Human Being and drink his blood, you’ll have no life in you! Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise up that person on the Last Day. John 6:53-59

27. My flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains with me, and I certainly remain with that person.

28. “And as the Living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will also live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but the person who eats this bread will live forever!” • Yeshuasaid this when he was teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.

29. When quite a few of his disciples heard this, they remarked, “This teaching is hard to take! Who can accept it?” • Yeshuawas aware that his disciples were complaining about this. He said to them, “Is this a problem for you? What if you observe the Son of Man go up to the place he was before? John 6:60-65

30. It is the Spirit who gives life – the natural realm doesn’t count for anything. The words I have spoken to you are spiritual and they have life. But there are some of you who don’t believe.”

31. In fact Yeshuaknew from the beginning which of them didn’t believe and just who would betray him. He said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has granted it to them.”

32. After this happened, some of his disciples turned their backs on him and didn’t follow him any more. So Yeshuasaid to the Twelve, “You don’t want to leave, too, do you?” • Simon Peter answered, “Lord, who is there to go to? Your words are the words of eternal life. We have believed! We realize that you’re the Holy One of God!” John 6:66-71

33. “And haven’t I chosen you Twelve!” Yeshuaexclaimed. “And one of you is a slanderer and liar!” (He meant Judas Iscariot – as this person, although one of the Twelve, would later betray Yeshua.)

34. The Pharisees went to Yeshuaand starting asking him questions. To test him, they asked him for a miraculous sign from heaven. He sighed deeply in his spirit and said, “Why does this people group ask for a miraculous sign? There is absolutely no way that a miraculous sign will be given to this people group!” Having said that, he left them, got back in the ship, and crossed over to the other side. Mark 8:11-13

35. The Pharisees and Sadducees arrived, and asked Yeshua to prove himself by showing them a sign from heaven. He answered, “In the evening you say, ‘Red at night, shepherds’ delight!’ and early in the morning you say, ‘Red in the morning, shepherds’ warning!’ You know how to tell what’s going on with the sky, but you can’t tell what’s going on in these times! Matthew 16:1-4

36. A wicked and adulterous group of people wants a sign, but the only sign it will get is the sign of Jonah!” At that he promptly left them.

37. The disciples had forgotten to bring bread, except for one loaf which was in the boat with them. Yeshuagave them the instructions: “See to it that you avoid the yeast of the Pharisees and avoid the yeast of Herod!” • They were discussing with other as to why they didn’t have any bread. Mark 8:14-21

38. Yeshuarealized what they were talking about and said, “Why are you talking about not having any bread? Don’t you catch on yet? Don’t you understand? Are your minds still closed? You have eyes but you don’t observe, and you have ears but you don’t pay attention! When I broke up the five loaves for the 5,000, do you remember how many wicker-baskets of pieces you picked up?”

39. “Twelve,” they answered. • “And when I broke up the seven loaves for the 4,000, how many large person-sized mat baskets full of pieces did you pick up?” • “Seven,” they said. • “Then why is it that you don’t understand?” Yeshuasaid.

40. When his disciples arrived at the other side, they discovered they had forgotten the bread. Yeshuasaid to them, “Watch out for and avoid the yeast of the Pharisees and the Sadducees!” • They discussed this amongst themselves and said, “It must be because we didn’t bring any bread!” Matthew 16:5-12

41. Yeshuawas aware of it, and said, “You faithless lot, why are you discussing the fact that you don’t have any bread with each other? How come you still don’t understand? Don’t you remember the five loaves of bread that fed the five thousand and how many baskets of leftovers you picked up? Don’t you remember the seven loaves of bread that fed the four thousand and how many large baskets of leftovers you picked up?

42. How come you don’t understand that I wasn’t talking about bread? Avoid the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees!” • Then they caught on to the fact that he wasn’t telling them to avoid the yeast in bread, but to avoid the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

43. They arrived in Bethsaida. Some people brought a blind person to Yeshua. They insisted that he touch him. Yeshuatook the blind person by the hand and took him outside the village. He spat on him and laid hands on him, and asked, “Do you see anything?” Mark 8:22-26

44. He looked up and said, “I can make out people that look like trees walking around.” • And Yeshualaid hands on his eyes again. Then the person saw clearly. • His eyes were back to normal, and he could see perfectly well. • Yeshuasent him home and said, “Don’t go into town.”
