Definition of the Words • Character: The combination of qualities or features that distinguishes one person, group, or thing from another. See Synonyms at disposition. • Development: A significant event, occurrence, or change.
ASSETS that Apply • Family support: Family life provides high levels of love and support. • Positive family communication: Young person and her or his parent(s) communicate positively, and young person is willing to seek advice and counsel from parent(s). • Service to others: Young person serves in the community one hour or more per week. • Family boundaries: Family has clear rules and consequences, and monitors the young person's whereabouts. • School boundaries: School provides clear rules and consequences.
Examples of the word • A character actor is an actor who predominantly performs supporting parts, often in similar roles throughout the course of a career. While some actors aspire to leading man or leading lady status, many notable actors have had enduring careers in less prominent, but important and memorable character parts. Character roles run the gamut from bit parts to secondary leads. • Personal character: • A person's moral predispositions or attitudes; see moral character, losers in literature. • In psychiatry, a character structure is a constellation of enduring motivational and other traits that are manifested in the characteristic ways that an individual reacts to various challenges. • Development: To understand this further: a man can have different personalities (at home / at office / at parties etc) but his personal self is one and cannot differ on each occasion. When someone is referring to personal development then he is meaning a full and total transformation from deep within and not just a temporary personality change for the occasion alone.
