  3. Scientist and Artist: 2 sides of the same coin? • Both highly observant • Want to understand the object or nature • Difference in how they communicate their findings • Difference in reflection and questions • Both have a “fundamental curiosity to understand the wonders of nature.” p.123

  4. Science and Art • Paintings- a springboard to ask questions about the natural world • Music- how does the music represent an aspect of nature and how they do it • Poetry- pulling the most memorable aspects of science into a poem • Dance, Oragami, Storytelling • Drama- Prey and Predator

  5. Science and Art • Inside-Out Technique: pick a place in the middle of the object and sketch out. Do not begin with the border or outline. • Keep two lists: • What you notice- details and descriptions • Questions that arise while drawing • Can use the sketches and illustrations as the basis for descriptive and creative writing. (Goldberg, 2006;Grallert, 1991)
