  18. DFBA: SMACC Progress report DFBA • Special DFBAs • DFBAK Interlayers leak has finally been localised,  NOT the one to insulation vacuum 10 bellows delivered last week of Dec-13 : 2 are needed per DFBA Leak tested successfully so far Radiographic analysis revealed the presence of porosity/small voids in the welds (acceptable) and of tungsten inclusions (NOT acceptable) Relevant inspection can be carried out at CERN with the required accuracy level Repair procedure of the welds is under definition/validation (EN-MME) •  Identify 4 [2] good units (or repair if needed) •  Impact on the reinstallation of the DFBAK, not (yet) on the S56 schedule • DFBAO Decided to repair it in the surface workshop (same procedure as for DFBAK) • Disconnection is startingTo avoid impacting the global schedule, CSCM has to be cancelled in S78 A Perin / S Atieh / D Lombard

  20. DFBA: SMACC Progress report DFBA • Standard DFBAs • MSC shunt installation team has been reinforced with 4 additional persons, operational since 10 December. Effect is already visible on broaching/brazing operations. • 62 / 135 splices consolidated, work completed on 4 DFBAs. • Global schedule is being redefined following decision to repair DFBAO in the workshop DFBAA-AB (P1): To beinsulatednextweek, soready for reclosure DFBAC (P2): Pigtailsconsolidated  Progress ishigherthan nominal for standard operations Courtesy A Perin

  30. SMACC Dipole diodes • Dipole diodes current leads willbemeasured in the 8 sectors at warm • Methodwillbe cross checkedwith the outliersidentified in 56 • Duration : ≈ 1 week per sector • Usuallydoneafter 17h • Extra workload for ElQA team • Planned in S81 nextweek • NB: This part of the circuit isalso «checked» by CSCM, presentlyplanned in 2-3 sectors • Tooearlytooconclude; it has to beanalysedwithin the diodes WG (MPE-MSC)

  32. SMACC Summary on progress Main 13 kA Splices:  Delay stable at 9 days, despite the Christmas break Special Interventions:  Delay stable DFBA:  Good progress on standard consolidation  Special cases (AK/AO) will require extra work  Replacement bellows issue to be followed up SMACC:  About 2.5 weeks Delays are stable Very slightly more than nominal rate achieved these last 15 weeks !

  33. 34. Conclusions • Good restart – Accessingwent on smoothly : THANKS • Delays are stable, despite the end of yeareffect • Sector 67 isready for pressure test • Confident that consolidation of splices in the arc canrecover the baseline: Last X % effect… • Tightfollow-up of components for diodes consolidation • Tightfollow-up of standard DFBA splices consolidation • Issues: • Consolidation of specialDFBAs • Repair of NCs in parallelwith production work
