This activity is a basic expectation of all faculty members at Wichita State University.
Office of Research Administration (ORA) All proposals and requests for grants and contracts to and from local, state, and federal governmental agencies, industry, and private organizations are processed through the Office of Research Administration.
ORA Services • Assist in identifying appropriate funding agencies • Provide grant program information, guidelines, deadlines • Assist with development of proposals and budget preparation • Coordinate University IACUC and IRB review procedures • Administer and monitor matching funds • Negotiate grant and contract terms • Monitor grant expenditures • Maintain grant accounts and records • Coordinate compliance with policies
Ethical & Compliance Issues • Expenditures and procurement • Human Subjects • Animal care and use • Hazardous materials • Federal Export Regulations • Lobbying • Conflict of interest • Indirect costs (facilities & administrative costs) • Time and Effort Reporting
Internal Grant Programs Multidisciplinary Research Project Award (MURPA) Two awards, up to $5,000 each Probationary and tenured faculty members eligible Must justify multidisciplinary nature of project Research conducted either spring or summer Application deadline is October 26, 2012 Award for Research/Creative Projects in Summer (ARCS) Stipend of $3,000 for two months research in summer Additional $1,000 for other operating expenses Faculty with summer appointments not eligible Application deadline is February 1, 2013
Internal Grant Programs Flossie E West Foundation Award Research relating to study and cure of cancer 2 awards, up to $25,000 each, contingent on foundation funds Application deadline is March 1, 2013 University Research/Creative Projects Award (URCA) Two competitions: New – 1st or 2nd year tenure-eligible Established – 3rd yr+ probationary or tenured Up to $4,500 per award Application deadline April 5, 2013
