  1. A D D I E Process By : Alma N. Villarreal EDTC 3320: Instructional Design for the Corporate Trainer Fall 2009

  2. Introduction The ADDIE model of instructional design is one of the most basic model that can be applied to any kind of learning solution.

  3. The ADDIE model consists of 5 stages

  4. The 5 components or phases of design give ADDIE its name. • Analysis: Identify needs and constraints. • Design: Design an effective lesson plan. • Development: The creation of learning materials. • Implementation: Deliver the instruction. • Evaluation: Evaluate results.

  5. Analysis The ADDIE analysis phase serves a major role in the quality assurance process. Steps in the need of analysis: • Discovering any existing material. • Conduct an instructional analysis. • Analyze learners and contexts.

  6. Design The design phase involves the complete design of the learning solution. Steps in the design process: • Decide on the main instructional methods. • Design an assessment plan. • Create detailed course outline.

  7. Implementation This is the phase where the developed course is actually administered to the target audience. Steps in the implementation phase. • The course meets important goals. • The course covers contents that learner need to know. • The course reflects the learners existing capabilities.

  8. Evaluation In the ADDIE model, evaluation is a systemic process that determines the quality and effectiveness of the instructional design as well as the final product. Steps in the evaluation phase: • Adjust instructional strategies according to students’ interaction with the content, the instructor and the peers. • Validate content accuracy and completeness, teaching methods, and communication approach. • Revise as necessary.

  9. Conclusion ADDIE is an approach for creating the best instruction in an organized, efficient, and effective manner. A training program require planning and analysis in three important areas. • The goals we want to achieve. • The material that must be taught. • The learners’ current capabilities.
