  2. If you walk into a McDonald’s in China, Italy, or South Africa for example, you will notice that these restaurants look very different than the Canadian ones you may have visited in the past.

  3. Rome, Italy The restaurant tries to blend in with the culture of its surrounding area.

  4. While they try to blend in with the culture of the area, they still want people to know they are visiting McDonald’s.

  23. You can get a Big Mac almost anywhere these days. They’re called  Maharaja Mac in India, CroqueMcDoin France, and McFiesta in Guatemala.

  24. McDonald’s has adapted itself to regional tastes. If restaurants don’t abide by cultural norms, it can lead to controversy. 

  25. This was the case for McDonald’s in India when customers discovered the french fries were soaked in beef fat. As a majority of Indians do not consume meat products, especially beef, the public was rightfully outraged.

  26. Since then, the global chain has respected local cultures.  The popular item in India is the McAlooTiki, a burger with a vegetarian patty made out of potatoes, peas and spices. 

  27. Just in case a vegetarian item does not sound appetizing, you can always get the Chicken McCurry Pan instead.
