As I am sure you are aware the BSG and ACPGBI are running a National Colonoscopy Audit during the first two weeks in March 2011. Your endoscopy unit is taking part in the audit. All lists with colonoscopies will be audited for two weeks. The paperwork will be filled in by the head nurse, who will need to ask questions regarding the procedure to enable him/her to complete the paperwork effectively. Some of the questions that may need verification are: indication for the procedure; caecal intubation; confirmation of completion and reason for incomplete test; number and sizes of polyps; and efficacy of bowel preparation. Thank you for your co-operation with this project. 28 February until 11 March 2011 All NHS units are taking part in this audit All colonoscopies performed during these two weeks will be audited Nursing staff are in charge of data collection which will include: • Indication for colonoscopy • Completion and its confirmation • Reasons for incomplete tests • Patient experience • Quality of bowel preparation This is a web-based audit.
