Shining the Light by Selflessness The Context • Paul’s appeal to be united 1:27-30 • V.27 conduct worthy of the gospel of Christ • “stand fast” dedication • “in one spirit” a common, unselfish attitude • “with one mind” a common understanding • “striving together” agonizing, working together • Suffering together 1:28-30

Shining the Light by Selflessness A Selfless Attitude v.1-4 • “if any” since it is the case • “consolation in Christ” encouragement to do right • “comfort of love” blessed by God’s love • “fellowship in the Spirit” common attitude and relationship • “affection and mercy” real feeling for brethren • Be like-minded, same mind, same love for others v.2 • Unselfish motives v.3 humility, honoring others • Unselfish behavior v.4 look out for others’ needs
